  Connor and I (Christina) met in our sketch comedy group in college in New York. We both studied TV writing, and once we graduated we realized that that dream was pretty far fetched as young twenty-somethings with no prior credits. At that time, podcasts were becoming more mainstream and we decided that this idea would be a lot cooler (and a lot more feasible) if it was something you could listen to. We starting writing this in late 2016 (!!!) inspired by gayness and our general fear of Mike Pence/Clay Aiken. Enter Ben, a longtime friend and sound design wonderkid into the mix. Once he created and showed us the theme song, we knew we were in it for the long haul. Over the next two years, we wrote and rewrote, and then recorded and mixed everything out of Ben's bedroom (sorry Ben.)

• What is the story of why you started your show? Kennedy first dug into the world of directing in college, but ran into difficulties really making his ideas come to life. Then he realized his childhood love of audio drama was a means of getting back into directing again. Over time he overcame self doubt to make this production a reality. In this, the world of Hearth, magic is performed by insulting the very laws of nature. During their previous adventures, Magus Elgar and his apprentice Udo Malaki met and accidentally destroyed the home of Dr. Horatio. Now they are on the hunt for the Scientific Tools Augmented with Magical Power (or STAMPs) before they fall into the wrong hands.

• Please summarize what we need to know about the story up until this point, for the episode to make sense:
  Magus Elgar and his apprentice Udo Malaaki are casters, magic users in the magical world of hearth, where insulting the laws of nature (called the elements) allow you to channel their bruised egos into magic power! Together, they have discovered a world beyond their understanding: a world of science, earth! There, they meet Dr. Graw Horatio and his assistant Kaylee Fawn, and accidentally blow up their lab and home. As a result, the doctor’s equipment from earth has mutated into Scientific Tools Augmented with Magical Power. (Or STAMPs for short) Now they scour Hearth together trying to find them before they fall into the wrong hands, or unravel reality as they know it. Up until now, much of their efforts to find the stamp has resulted in disasters and collateral damage, from nugget raptors, to a village set ablaze. In the last few episodes, Dr. Horatio has found a way to track the STAMPs with his old radio (a STAMP which now gives very Cryptic clues on its whereabouts) Will the Magical Anomaly Interdimensional Locators (MAIL) find it in time?

The show began to take form in the summer of 2016, while Tavius felt like his world was crumbling around him. This caused him to think about a world where it didn’t just /feel/ like it was the end of the world, but it was, in fact, the actual Apocalypse. He pitched the idea to several people close to him and after about a year of testing and production work, the show was born.

• Tell me about how your show started?
• Spooning in the Apocalypse is a passion project/another desperate creative attempt by established Nashville artist, Tavius Marshall. In the summer of 2016 the weird idea, and concept seedlings started sprouting in his brain while his real life was falling apart. Tavius and his wife Ashley Litchford-Marshall, are multi-racial artists who having already started the podcast The Mixer: Legal to Brew a show about multi-racial issues, Tavius wanted to take podcasting to even weirder places. Making a universe where not only does it all feel like the Apocalypse, but it, in actual fact, is; and we are just trying to work through it. Pitching this to chosen persons close to him, Nathan Connor joined as “Radd Flink” and Head Writer/Co-Story Creator , Drew Collins joined as “Shaum Defroyen” and Head Sound Designer/Sound Producer/Music Composer/Audio Tsar, and Ashley Litchford-Marshall joined as the voice of “The Spoon”, Media Designer and Photographer. A year of concept testing and pre-production later, the first episode of Spooning in the Apocalypse was born, the rest is the future.

• Tell us about how your show started?
• I'd been writing a series about aliens living in Niagara Falls, but it was clear that I was in over my head on both the writing and production side. So I brainstormed ideas for a show that would be more episodic, and easier to produce, and came up with "fairy-tale hospital show".. It turned out to be exactly as complicated as the abandoned Niagara project.
